Voted “Best Public Golf Club” in the 2006 Commercial Appeal Reader’s Choice Award, Quail Ridge Golf Course has and will always strive to be better than the best. Designed by David Pfaff, a former Pete Dye assistant, “the Quail” is a wonderful combination of artistry and geography. Its natural beauty shaped with its artistic design gives Quail Ridge one of the best public layouts in the city. With seven lakes, a winding creek, tree lined fairways, and slick but fair greens, the Quail offers a most distinctive challenge unparalleled in the city of Memphis.
A recent course change has altered the original course par, slope, and rating that did date back to 1993 when the course first opened. Now a 6675 yard par 70 with a rating of 72.6, the Quail has been called the toughest public golf course in the city. Its Championship Bermuda greens are some of the finest in the city. Recent venues to appear at the Quail include several national and professional qualifiers such as the USGA PubLinks, AJGA and the FedEx St. Jude Classic Monday Qualifier. The current course record of 62 is held by Professional Andrew Pratt from Bartlett,TN.
